Karl Giesriegl, born in Innsbruck, Austria, lives in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Raised in a family of printers and publishers, he trained as a typographer before going on to study at the Historical Institute of the University of Vienna. In 2002 he received a PhD in history and philosophy. Since then, he has worked as a historian, a book author, and as director of Mezrab, the biggest storytelling theatre in Europe.
